Alumni Alumni Fund

Alumni Fund

Remember what it was like in high school? Road trips were the best! Time with friends on the bus and hanging out together were some of the fondest memories.

Dalat Alumni are invited to invest in the lives of current Dalat students through the Alumni Fund. The Alumni Fund gives to the MK Education Endowment Fund and for international travel for Dalat student athletes and artists to attend international tournaments and workshops in SE Asia.

Did you know?

  • Half of Dalat's student population comes from families in ministry all over Asia.
  • Dalat provides a firty percent discount, over $5000 to each high school student each year, to families in ministry and additional scholarships to those with great financial need. The MK Education Endowment Fund provides for these families.
  • Dalat is completely self-funded and independent, not receiving financial support from any church organization.
  • International travel to sports competitions and music workshops in SE Asia costs about $500 for each student.
  • You can make a big difference in the lives of Dalat students by giving to the Alumni Fund!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why is Dalat having an Alumni fundraiser?

Resources are needed to fulfil the mission of Dalat International School for future generations by providing an education for life founded on a biblical worldview and to create memories that last. The Alumni Fund gives the chance to Dalat Alumni to make an investment in students and missions in SE Asia. Dalat students past and present are loyal and take care of each other.

How much do MK students receive in discounts?

The amount varies according to grade. High school students (Grades 9 to 12) receive $5000 each year in academic discounts, middle school an average of $4500, and elementary students $2500. Boarding students receive an additional $5000 each year in boarding cost discounts. Dalat also provides an additional $30,000 in scholarships each year on top of student discounts.

Is Dalat operating within its budget?

Yes. Dalat's operating budget is fully covered by tuition. School Board policy mandates a balanced budget.

How much should I give?

Give according to what you are happy to give. Would you consider giving enough to sponsor one student for an entire year?

Can I designate my gift?

You can designate your gift be added to the MK Education Endowment Fund or for international travel of student athletes and artists to international tournaments and workshops in SE Asia.

Are my gifts tax deductible?

Unfortunately, no. Dalat is not able to hold a non-profit status in Malaysia or the US. US tax laws have become much more stringent in the last ten years, and it has become more difficult and expensive for a foreign organization to run a non-profit organization in the US for fundraising purposes.

How can I give?

Gifts are accepted by check, credit card, or bank transfer. See the details above. If you have any questions, please email the Director of Development, Larry Chinn, at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

How will I be recognized?

All who give to the Alumni Fund will be recognized for their gifts in our alumni newsletters in an annual report.

Can my gift be anonymous?

What if I want to give to something other than the MK Endowment Fund or international travel?

Please let us know how you would like to help make a difference in the life of Dalat students, and we will do our best to make it happen!

If I want to know more about specific school needs who can I contact?

Creating Memories

Supporting MK Education & Music and Athletics

As an alum, you know the depth and significance of Dalat's impact in your life. You can be part of Dalat's continuing service to missionary families in Asia and creating memories by participating in the Alumni Fund.

Missionary kid education is one of the most important tools in support of those working to share the love of Christ to the entire world. Many of you — as former students whose parents ministered in Asia — know this firsthand.

By providing students with an excellent education and a family-style boarding community, Dalat gives parents the flexibility to minister anywhere God calls them in the region, knowing that their children are being well-cared for.

This year's Alumni Fund is also about creating memories. Dalat Alumni say that their memories of Dalat are some of their most precious possessions. Giving to the Alumni Fund will also provide resources for sports teams and musical groups to travel to regional tournaments and competitions; the things memories are made of.
