About your Teacher

I am looking forward to teaching your child 1st grade in the upcoming year at DIS. I would like to share a few things about myself and my family. We were all born in the state of Mississippi in the USA. I am married to Travis Smith who is also a teacher here at Dalat. We have 3 sons. Two of them are here in school and the oldest is serving in the U.S. army.

I have 18 years of teaching experience. I have taught 3 years of kindergarten, 3 years of first grade, 7 years of second grade, 1 year of third grade, 1 year of 6th grade, and 3 years of special needs services.

Class Information

This year we have 13 students in First Grade 1B.  There are students from Malaysia, Korea, Canada, and the United States. An e-newsletter will be sent home each Friday to the email address you provided informing you of coming dates as well as descriptions of activities completed each week. A blue Friday folder will be sent home each week with completed work. A homework folder will come home daily as well. Please check this folder daily for work and notes.

What should Students bring to School?

Students need to bring an umbrella that can be left at school and a small water bottle. All other school items such as pencil, crayons etc. will be supplied by the school.
