About your Teacher

I was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa where I taught for the first ten years of my teaching career. In 2001 I moved to the United Kingdom where I continued teaching for seven years. In July 2008 my son and I moved to Penang to join the Dalat community. We have been here for three years and are having a very rewarding experience.

I enjoy teaching each day and it is great to be part of the Dalat community. I am looking forward to another year of good teaching and making a valuable contribution to the education and life experiences of my students.

Class Information

This year Grade 2a consists of 13 students from the USA, Malaysia, Taiwan and South Korea.

Core Subjects: Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Bible

Homework: Your child will bring home a weekly planner. All homework will be written in this book with clear instructions. The reading log should be completed when parents have read with their children daily. Please use this book to communicate with me on a daily basis about reading, homework, absences or any other information. Please sign this book every Friday.

Fridays: Every Friday your child will complete a spelling test and will have to recite their Bible memory verse. All parents will receive a Friday newsletter about our week's learning via email. This can also be viewed on our Elementary Newsletter Archive on this webpage.

Additional Programs: Learning Support, ESL and KICS. We offer a wide variety of KIC clubs throughout the week. You will be informed about any other events by our principal, Heather Fischer.

What should Students bring to School?

An umbrella that will remain at school and a water-bottle.† All other educational supplies will be provided by the school.
