Retreats

Retreats are a chance for students to get away from our campus and enjoy spending time growing together. Each year the Middle School begins the year with a retreat to encourage team building and help new students develop relationships. Grade 8 students finish the year with a special trip.

Intramurals

The intramurals program is designed to foster earnest but friendly rivalry and cooperative attitudes through group participation and teamwork.  Students should develop sports and other recreational skills that can be utilized for a lifetime of physical activity.  Sports may include basketball, volleyball, badminton, soccer, softball and track and field.  Spectators are welcome.  Participation is expected of all students.

Chapel

Chapel is held each week and is under the direction of the spiritual life director, administrators and teachers.  Students have the opportunity to worship, listen to special speakers, learn Bible stories and lessons, and present dramas or skits dealing with Biblical truths.  Chapel attendance is mandatory for all students at Dalat International School.

Science Fair

Each year the Science fair is held to allow students the opportunity to display their applied knowledge through a variety of imaginative and creative projects.

Student Awards

The awards system has been designed to give due recognition to those students who achieve a measure of success at Dalat in a broad variety of areas. The middle school recognizes one grade 5 or 6 student and one grade 7 or 8 student each month for excellence. Students are also chosen each semester for excellence in sports, ESLR character traits, academics, and NJHS.

SAT's

SAT's give Middle School students a student-centered opportunity to develop socially, academically, emotionally, co-operatively, spiritually, and accountability in order to transition more easily from an elementary classroom to the high school setting. This is accomplished by developing good relationships with 1 adult advocate/mentor and a small diverse group of peers, a pattern of organization and responsibility, a positive outlook about one's self and environment, appropriate support structures to accomplish tasks, and Godly character, value-systems and a servant’s attitude.

All Middle School Activities

Each week, all of the middle school students and teachers participate in activities on variety of topics. Some activities are team building and others focus on developing multiple intelligence and caring for the environment.

Student Council (StuCo)

Student Council is an opportunity for Middle Schoolers to develop leadership skills. Students work though an event planning model to develop activities that build school spirit and serve fellow students and staff.

After School Activities

Middle school students also have opportunity to be involved with afterschool activities. Our main extracurricular activities include sports and scouts.
