Preschool 4b Class Profile

About your Teacher

My undergraduate degree is in Human Development and Family Studies. I also studied to get my teaching degree and taught first grade for five years in the United States and the Marshall Islands before having a family of my own. In 2010/2011 I worked as a co-teacher in the Second Grade classroom teaching language arts and math at Dalat.

I started teaching a classroom of P4 students in 2011 and I recently finished my Masters in Education with a specialty in teaching reading. Teaching is my passion and I am looking forward to putting all of my learning into practice. I have a wonderful husband as well as three fantastic daughters who all attend Dalat.

Class Information

Concepts in our Preschool Four class are taught using the Mathematics and Language Arts curriculum from High Scope Educational Research Foundation.  The Numbers Plus is a comprehensive preschool mathematics curriculum aligned with the standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, focusing on the five content areas of Number Sense and Operations, Geometry, Measurement, Patterns, and Data Analysis.

The Growing Readers Early Literacy Curriculum is a comprehensive preschool Language Arts curriculum focusing on the four important reading abilities of comprehension, phonological awareness, alphabetic principle, and print awareness.  In addition to these two content areas, we also teach New Testament Bible as a subject using the He Has Spoken by His Son preschool curriculum.

Throughout the school year, the preschool curriculum is supplemented by various themes focusing on real life topics such as animals, insects, health, safety, and geography.

What should Students bring to School?

Students need to bring a small umbrella with their name on it to be kept in the classroom for rainy weather.  Please also provide a set of clothes (T-shirt and shorts) to be kept in their storage cubbies for emergency purposes.

A small backpack would be helpful to carry home their folder on Fridays.  Sports shoes are to be worn for P.E. days along with their P.E. uniform.  School supplies (pencils, crayons, etc.) will be provided in the classroom.

Daily Specials

This year some of our specials include:

Monday - Music
Tuesday - PE, Library
Wednesday - Music
Thursday - PE
Friday - Chapel

Additional Information

Student Pick-up

School begins at 8:20 a.m. and ends at 12:00 noon. Please be prompt in dropping off and picking up your child at these designated times.

Parking and Driving on Campus

Please drive carefully on campus. In an effort to keep our campus safe for our students, the Dalat campus has a pick-up area that is designated a “no waiting zone” next to the band room. This area is for loading cars and is not intended as a parking or waiting area. Even if there are no cars behind you, we ask that you not wait in this area and the guards have been instructed to ask you to keep moving immediately.

If you would like to wait in your car or park, the school administration asks that you park in a parking space. If there is not a parking space available on campus, there is parking on the field next to campus that is safe and very convenient.

There is easy access to the campus through the upper field gate which is unlocked during drop off and pick up times (11:30am to 12:30pm). We appreciate those who are willing to park on the upper field to minimize traffic on our campus.

Thank you for keeping our campus safe.
