Grade 4a Class Profile
About your Teacher
Hello! I am very thankful to be teaching at Dalat this year. I am eager to get to know you and your child.
I grew up on a pig farm in small town, rural Iowa in the United States. I am the third of four children. Upon graduating high school, I chose to attend Crown College. There I pursued my degree in elementary education. During my time at Crown, I was able to student teach at Dalat in the fall of 2008. My experience at Dalat was in grade 3 working alongside Mrs. Sasse.
After graduating college, I was offered a job starting an Early Kindergarten program at Ames Christian School. I successfully started the program, wrote the curriculum, and strived to help each student reach their potential. I worked at Ames Christian School two years. This is my second year at Dalat and my first year teaching grade 4. Last year I taught grade 3.
Christina Orr, the other Grade 4 teacher, and I will be team teaching some of the Core Subjects of Bible, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Science. The students will also have many other Specials during the week including Bahasa Malay, Library, PE, Art, Music, and Chapel.
All of these activities will bring excitement to your student. I look forward to learning with them and discovering new and exciting things!
What should Students bring to School?
Each day, please have your child bring to school a small water bottle to be kept in the classroom and a small back pack and place an umbrella in your child's locker to use throughout the year.
Folders, paper, pencils, erasers, colored pencils, markers, crayons, scissors and rulers are all provided by the school so there is no need to bring any of these items. Mechanical pencils are not permitted as they can be quite a distraction.
This year some of our specials include:
Monday - Bahasa Malay, Art
Tuesday - Music, Library
Wednesday - PE
Thursday - Bahasa Malay, Music
Friday - Chapel, PE, Computers
