About this Website

The Dalat International School website was built using the extremely versitile open source Joomla software.  Joomla! is one of the most powerful Open Source Content Management Systems (CMS) available. It is used all over the world for everything from simple websites to complex corporate applications. Joomla is easy to install, simple to manage, reliable, and with over 7000 extensions available designers have many options available to them.

This site has been completely redesigned with today’s web standards in mind, a fresh new look and improved accessibility. We have used XHTML 1.0 and CSS that conforms to specification, as laid out by the W3C because we believe that usability and accessibility must have a solid foundation. This site has been tested on Safari (Mac and PC), Firefox (Mac and PC) and Internet Explorer (PC). Current trends seem to indicate a significant rise in Firefox usage and I recommend Firefox as the browser to view this site on.

Key Features

The site architecture is designed to give you the quickest access to the most important information. The whole Dalat Curriculum, including extra curricula activities, is now available online for easy access. Other key features now include the...

• Dalat Download Center - Our document repository featuring over 200+ PDF downloads containing key information and resources.
• DalatCal - Our entire school calendar now integrates with Google Calendar and features dedicated timelines on a Calendar category.
• Full Page PDF View - We have integrated a full page PDF view on selected documents (such as our key Handbooks and the latest issue of Eagle's Eye. This has a very nice and clean interface. We shall be adding other documents over time.
• Dalat Flickr - Our photo archive slideshow featuring Flickr. We are fully integrated with a Flickr pro account so parents and friends can easily find and download photos to their computer.
• Dalat FAQ - Some of the frequently asked questions concerning a Dalat education.
• Dalat News - Issues of Dalat News will be available online via Constant Contact.
• Dalat Glossary - A special feature of this site is that it utalises a glossary robot so terms or acronyms that you may be unfamiliar with appear with dotted lines with a popup definition. The definition link appears only on the first occurance of the term on a page. For example: AP or ES.
• Dalat Quick Links - A menu bar appears at the bottom of every page giving you quick access to some of the key features of the site.
• Dalat Translation - On the right of almost every page we have installed a Google translation feature that will immediately translate any of our webpages into 1 of 57 languages. This is Ajax driven so there is no nead to reload the entire page.
