Malaysian Students

Global Opportunities for all young Malaysians

Good news!

Malaysian students studying at an American curriculum school have endless opportunities to go to universities and colleges in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Singapore as well as the United States of America.

Many Malaysian parents believe that by sending their children to Dalat, an international school with an American curriculum, that they are limiting their choices of universities. On the contrary! The world is open to you through Dalat International School.

To prepare children in an American school to attend a British curriculum university there are a few things to keep in mind. Each university, regardless of where it is located, has different requirements for admission.

However, three areas that most universities look at when looking at students in an American school include: results from the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) exam, results from Advanced Placement (AP) exams, and the student’s transcripts showing completion of all requirements.

American Exams

The SAT exam consists of three major sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. Each section receives a score on the scale of 200–800; a perfect total score in all three sections is 2400. The beauty of the SAT exam is that a student can take the exam as many times as they like; not like British exams where you are only allowed to take the test once. The best score counts and improvements can be made over a few years. Dalat International School is an official venue for the SAT exam during one of the two exams scheduled in Penang, Malaysia each year.

AP courses are offered at Dalat on campus and online. AP courses count for college credit in the USA when the student receives a score of 3, 4 or 5 on the exam at the end of the school year.
