Dalat's Annual Fund is the phenomenon that ignites our school each October. Families, alumni, staff, students, and friends are encouraged to generously help fund the extra resources and tools to fuel the extraordinary teaching and learning that happens at Dalat every day. When everyone helps, the Annual Fund can pave the way for great things!

“But I give best when I give from that deeper place; when I give simply, freely and generously, and sometimes for no particular reason. I give best when I give from my heart.”

Steve Goodier

THANK YOU! We WENT BEYOND OUR 2021 Goal!

Enriching Student Education
with Dalat Annual Fund

October 4 - November 14

Generosity is modeled in many ways by parents and teachers. It comes to life when we share with each other, help out those who need support, and give freely of our time and resources to make the world better. Giving generously to our 2021 Annual Fund is another way we can model “Education for Life”

Annual Fund Projects

Social and Emotional
Learning Resources

RM 2,000
  • These resources will help students cultivate social skills with peers, behavioral and emotional regulation, improve focus, and develop organizational skills.
  • Social-Emotional tools such as fidget sensory bracelets/spinners, self-regulation toys, calming and focus items, stress balls, and SEL games will help address emotional needs of our students when they return to face to face learning.

Battery Powered
Leaf Blowers

RM 3,600
  • As we prepare for staff and students to return to campus, it’s important to create a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Battery-powered devices will allow the maintenance staff to quickly clear the campus of leaves anytime.
  • The quiet motors on the equipment will prevent any noise disruption to staff and students and allow the maintenance staff to efficiently maintain the campus.

High School
Robotics Kits

RM 22,000
  • Vex Robotics kits are the top-of-the-line kits that will teach students valuable, real world skills.
  • In addition to the hands-on experience with the equipment, the kits interface with Python, a standard programming software used in computer science companies all over the world.

Additional
AED

RM 5,600
  • An additional AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is an important measure in keeping our students, staff, parents, and community members safe while on campus
  • In the event someone has a medical emergency, an AED can be lifesaving.
  • An AED is a device we hope to never use, but can be the lifeline someone needs in case of an emergency.

Harbor Hall Light
Board Controller

RM 7,500
  • Quality productions require professional equipment. The ETC Fader Wing Controller compliments and expands our ability to adjust lighting on our current stage in Harbor Hall
  • This piece of equipment is used professionally all over the world.
  • Students who are trained on our light system gain real world marketable skills in stage, theater, and church production.

Middle School
Tables

RM 5,000
  • To create more community and outdoor workspace for students.
  • Middle School would love your support in providing tables and chairs to go under our new awning.

Middle School Lockers

RM 55,000
  • Updated lockers will improve the look and function of our corridor and streamline the flow of students between classes.
  • Lockers will be a great addition to our campus to match the elementary and high school areas.

Learning Lab Upgrades

RM 60,000
  • The Student Support Services Learning Lab is an important part of providing a safe and comfortable learning environment for students.
  • Incorporating some more comfortable furniture in the area will help foster the atmosphere of belonging and bring down the anxiety levels that often accompany doing school as a student with learning difficulties.
  • Furniture upgrades will help staff focus on supporting students, and help students learn in a safe and welcoming atmosphere.

Microbits

RM 2,600
  • Micro:bits provides students opportunities to learn block coding with hands-on experience. The concepts that are harder to understand are more easily grasped.
  • Students can interact and see outcomes of their coding whether individually or collaboratively.
  • Micro:bits is an invaluable tool to enhance critical thinking and problem solving in our STEAM program. Micro:bits will encourage active, engaging learning at Dalat.

3D Printer

RM 3,000
  • Anything tech tends to motivate students! Creativity, collaboration, critical thinking are all involved with designing projects to be printed.
  • By working in teams, students learn how to compromise and make adjustments as they learn.
  • Viewing their work on a screen then watching the product come to reality as a 3D printing only enhances excitement for learning!

“That's what I consider true generosity: You give your all and yet you always feel as if it costs you nothing.”

Annual Fund FAQ

The Annual Fund is more than just a fundraiser; it is a community-wide event. By working together, we can make Dalat a better place for our students.

Tuition covers the day-to-day needs of running the school. The Annual Fund allows Dalat to enhance education with lots of great resources!

Your gifts provided for hundreds of projects, including the Recycling Program, Gym Fitness Equipment, iPads for ES, Laptops for MS, Music Instruments and Choir Risers, Dorm Ovens, and much more!

The Annual Fund provides additional resources for students above what tuition covers. This is a way we will keep our promises to our children. If you support the mission of Dalat International School, your giving is an investment in our children to fulfill that goal of providing an education for life and to continue making it better.

Building fees are used for large projects in the development of the school and its facilities and are being used for the campus development taking place on campus now.

Annual Fund is a community wide event for Dalat families, students, staff, and school board members. Everyone is encouraged to get involved. Alumni and former staff have even participated! Donations, large and small, are welcome. You can also encourage others to give, and partner with us in prayer.

The Annual Fund will kick off on Monday, 4 October and will end on Sunday, 14 November. Gifts will be accepted during that time by cash, check, credit card, or by bank transfer. Drop your gift off at the school office during regular business hours, mail in the attached response form, or email the Development Office at development@dalat.org.

We are asking everyone to give what they are able and with a joyful heart. The important thing is that everyone participates.

Unfortunately, not in Malaysia, as Dalat is not a non-profit organization. US-based donors can donate through RCE to ensure their gift is tax deductible.

Due to COVID-19, there will not be any in-person events for Annual Fund. Please check your email, Dalat News, and the Annual Fund website for information about other ways to get involved.

If I want to know more about specific school needs, who can I contact? Please direct questions to Catherine Foster, Director of Development, via email at cfoster@dalat.org.

2021 Annual Fund Pledge

Hi, my name is Catherine Foster, and I’m honored to join Dalat International School this year as the Director of Development. As a Dalat graduate (Class of 2009), the community and mission of Dalat is very near and dear to my heart. While I was a student, I received a world-class education from incredible teachers and staff, and have a lot of great memories from my time here.

We want to continue the mission of Dalat by providing more tools and resources to our staff and students, to make this a fun and engaging place to learn. Every year, our Annual Fund provides opportunities for our community to show support for projects that will enhance learning here at Dalat.

This year, we want to raise RM 175,000 to support projects like upgraded High School Robotics Kits, Social and Emotional Learning Resources, lockers for our middle school students, additional health and medical equipment, and more.

By donating to the Annual Fund, you are making a direct impact on our entire school community and helping Dalat continue to be a fun and engaging place to learn. Please join us to support these projects and resources for our community.

Catherine Foster
