A Fine Festival
Next week will be the Dalat Fine Arts Festival which gives us as community a chance to highlight the creativity and talents of our students. I want to encourage all parents and students to come to the festival as I am confident that you will not be disappointed.
An education in the arts (performance and visual) is a crucial part of the development and growth of each child. The study of the arts is integral to our society and culture as it is art that connects deeply with what makes us human and helps to complete us as people. There is a universal need for words, music, dance, and visual art to give expression to the innate urgings of the human spirit. (Eisner, 1987)
A few years ago a TED talk video of Sir Ken Robinson talking about the importance of the arts in school went viral with it being viewed over 24 million times. His talk is inspiring and encourages us to support and prioritize the arts in our curriculum. Here is the link to the video and I encourage you to take time to watch it:
