Turn It Off
Last year at this time, I wrote about what is called “Screen Free Week,” which is being held this year from 4 to 10 May. I think this is something I will want to highlight every year as there are so many benefits to what is being promoted by this event. The event itself has been around since 1994 when it was first called “Turn Off Your TV Week.”
“‘Screen Free Week’ is an annual event when children, families, schools, and communities are encouraged to turn off screens and ‘turn on life.’ Instead of relying on television and other technology for entertainment, participants read, daydream, explore, enjoy nature, and spend time with family and friends. Over 300 million people have taken part in the turnoff, with millions participating each year.” (Wikipedia)
