Campus Operations

During non-school hours Monday through Friday (after 3:10 p.m.), preschool through Grade 6 students must have direct supervision of a parent.

During open campus on Saturday and Sunday, any student on campus not participating in a school-sponsored event must be accompanied by a parent.

The air in Penang is generally clean and clear. Periodically the air quality creeps up into unhealthy levels, usually in September and October.  An important indicator will be the Air Quality Index (AQI) and action will be taken according to the AQI levels.

Dalat utilizes the Weatherbug application to detect severe storms and lightning approaching the area. 

When a lightning strike is detected within 5 miles (8km), an alert is sounded on campus directing all participants in an outdoor activity to take shelter.

When the threat of lightning has passed, an all clear signal is sounded.

Heat index is a statistic that combines temperature and humidity. With the high humidity levels in Malaysia, the heat index is a more comprehensive number for addressing heat illness. 

Dalat's heat illness policy is intended to provide general guidelines for preventing, assessing and dealing with heat-related illness in athletes.

In order to be prepared for a possible campus emergency, Dalat has:

• Emergency backpack in each classroom and office building
• Crisis manual for staff with procedures for specific emergency situations (e.g., fire, lockdown, evacuation)
• We do periodic testing of alarms and hold practice drills of the school’s emergency procedures
