Music is a required course for every student at Dalat from preschool through grade 8, based on the conviction that musical experiences provide tremendous education and life benefits.

All Dalat students in grades 6–8 are enrolled in the band program to promote brain development, kinesthetic skills, language decoding, and personal expression. Students who decide to continue playing music in high school further develop their musicianship by performing in a variety of small, select groups.

Vocal music is also offered to students as electives at the secondary level.

Classroom instruction is enriched by student involvement in a variety of performance groups, including:

• Beginning, intermediate, and advanced band
• Honors band
• Choir
• Musical productions at the elementary school level
• Student ensembles
• Jazz band
• Worship teams

introduces students to the building blocks of visual arts, design, and sculpture, incorporating concepts in language, line, shape, color, value, and texture.

Because the visual arts are so beneficial to all aspects of children’s development, general art is a required course for every student at Dalat from P3 through grade 8. Young Dalat students develop their fine motor skills as they explore, create, and expand their ability to think critically.

In high school, students may take elective art courses. Students take a tour of the art world, exploring paintings, sculptures, experimental pieces, and more, critiquing their own compositions and interpreting the spiritual, social, and physical purposes of art in their own lives.

Students of all ages display their creations at exhibitions during the school year.
