English 11

English 11, The American Experience, develops students’ reading and critical thinking skills through an inclusive study of American literature. With various novels, short stories, and poems, we explore the different themes and literary movements that make up American history. Students study high-level vocabulary, grammar, and other English mechanics using IXL.

Written English skills are developed through consistent writing exercises of differing purposes, including day-to-day assignments, analytical reflections, creative pieces, narratives, and expository essays. Class discussions and presentations provide students the opportunity to develop their oral English skills.
