Pre-Course Requirements: The summer before enrolling in Honors English 10, students are required to complete a summer reading project. This project is posted on the DISCourse webpage.
Honors English 10 is a more rigorous study of literature and writing than English 10. While some texts overlap with those of English 10, additional units on Shakespeare and an extended writing unit make this class more challenging. There is a focus on larger projects rather than on numerous smaller assignments. Students write about that literature, looking at themes, tone, diction, syntax, and how to develop voice in their own writing.
Students read more novels and plays and move at a faster pace than in the regular English 10 class.
Google Translate, though it is not a totally accurate word for word translation, it will enable you to at least view much of our content in over 100 languages. Studies show that Korean and Chinese have accuracy rates ranging from 80 to 90 percent.
