The Middle School curriculum is standards driven. This model assures continuity and helps drive a scope and sequence of instruction that is logical and progressive.
Grades 5-8 are considered middle school but is broken down further into intermediate grades (5,6) and middle school (7,8). The program is designed to reflect a gradual transition from the self-contained classroom to the high school format. A basic core of language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and Bible are taken daily in all grade levels. In addition, students also take classes in computer, art, study skills, health and band (grades 6-8) each year.
The schedule is also designed to include exploratory classes which are taken on a quarterly basis. In the past these classes have included: leadership, drama, journalism, choir, worship team, and information processing classes. Students in grades 5-8 are placed on Student Advisor Teams (SAT’s). These teams meet for fifteen minutes at the beginning of each day to participate in a variety of team-building activities.
