Another aspect to consider is that a community can also be an anchor in our lives. When we are part of a community, there are people who have similar values and support one another. Even though people within the community come and go, the community itself is an anchor.
We often have alumni come by to visit Dalat. There are a lot of alumni from the last few years, but it surprises me how often we get visits from people who graduated in the 1960s and 1970s. Again and again, we hear how Dalat was an anchor in their lives. When they think about their childhood home, Dalat is at the forefront of those memories. The Dalat community is still an anchor for many of us and will continue to be in the future. While we are physically here every day, we should all take advantage of the many benefits of being part of this community.
The next two months are filled with a number of exciting activities. My favorite community event of the year is the PTO International Food Fair, which happens later this afternoon. I hope to see many of you there! I also encourage you to attend as many of the student performances as you can. Whether or not your children are performing, you will be blessed by the students’ hard work. There will be music concerts, art displays, drama performances, many awards ceremonies, and finally, graduation.
In many ways, I would describe my thirst for learning as insatiable, and that is why I love working with students…
One of the highlights of the first semester each year is the three days we as a school set apart to encounter God during Spiritual Emphasis Days.
