I know that this MEW certainly impacted the rest of the Leadership Development class and me in ways words can’t describe.

During the weeks leading up to this year’s Missions Emphasis Week, the Senior Leadership Development class (LD) worked hard with Pastor Bob and Mrs. Veerasingam, planning, preparing, and praying to ensure that we facilitated a space for students to connect with God. Utilizing these three aspects, we entered the week ready to praise and teach about God through our chosen theme, “Alight.”

On Tuesday, we met the MEW Team and had an outreach project teaching refugee children math, science, and fun games! The project was a great way to start Missions Emphasis Week with service and put our minds and hearts in the right place.

When MEW officially began on Wednesday, we were met with heartfelt sermons about how to be the light of the world and follow the light of the Holy Spirit. The speaker’s words aligned with the goal we, as LD, had set for this MEW—to remind the Dalat community that serving Christ is more than just going to church. It is living with intentions to glorify God through everything and to use the light inside of you to show others the glory of God.

The Holy Spirit continued to work in the hearts of the community throughout the week, as Senior Stories from LD members provided personal testimonies of finding God in transition, fear, service, and joyful and challenging times. We finished the week with five such stories and a joyful celebration of God as we, through tears or smiles, jumped and sang of how we thank God in the final few minutes of MEW.

Memories from this MEW will always follow me, whether it be jumping during the song “I Thank God,” praying for peers during the evening services, serving at the refugee school, or just listening to the wise words of the speakers and my peers, I know that this MEW certainly impacted the rest of the LD class and me in ways words can’t describe, and we all pray that it did the same for others in the community.
