SEW is always a significant moment in the Dalat calendar as it represents an opportunity for students to pause from academic, athletic, and artistic pursuits in order to give time and space to encounter God. This year’s theme is, “Thy Eternal Kingdom” and we are honored this week to have a number of local speakers including Rev. Palan, Pastor Joe Gromm, Pastor Daniel and Phoebe Loh, Kelly Tan, Pastor Andrew Simon and Dr. Will Brooks sharing God’s Word with us. They reminded us that the Bible repeatedly conveys the importance of God’s Kingdom and challenged us to not give up eternal things for things that are temporary.
In the book of Isaiah, God’s Kingdom is described as one which would last forever (Isaiah 9:7) indicating not only its permanence but its significance. This is why Jesus repeatedly told his disciples to announce that the kingdom of Heaven was at hand (Matthew 4:17) and that we should pursue it above everything else (Matthew 6:23). We were reminded that the message of the Kingdom of God is intended to only give people a sense of hope and peace for the future, but that it is for today, and we were challenged to live in a way that honors our king.
The evening services presented opportunities for those gathered to spend time seeking God in order to realign their lives and be refreshed in their faith, and tonight (Friday night), five of our seniors will be sharing how choosing to serve God has impacted their lives, and how choosing to honor God has led them to experiencing His presence and power more deeply. Our prayer, as leadership development students, has been for all to experience the richness of God’s Kingdom in our lives.

The other amazing thing about IMPACT trips is that not only are we serving others, but you get to see how the people we are serving are teaching our students also!

Throughout the Bible, God tells us to show kindness, love, and care for one another. One way we can do this is by seeing others…
