To be honest, this is one of our few outcome statements that the kids often grasp better than the adults. Students know that they are in a phase of life where learning is a priority. They go to school every day, and spend time studying and learning new things. They expect to learn things from both their parents and teachers. Kids understand that they don’t know everything and freely ask adults all kinds of questions, expecting immediate answers.
Dalat’s mission statement is “Education for life founded on a biblical worldview.” We want our students to be teachable throughout their lifetimes. The best way for us to accomplish that is for us, the adults in their lives, to continue learning and to cultivate a teachable attitude ourselves. Since neuroplasticity decreases as we age (see the chart above produced by Google Gemini), we have to be more intentional about continued learning.
Be humble. Admit that you make mistakes and that you have more to learn.
Keep learning. Seek out opportunities to learn something new. This could be a new hobby, a new recipe, a new topic of interest, or anything else that is new to you.
Ask questions. Learn from others who are experts in various topics.
Listen. Listening to others not only helps us learn, but also strengthens relationships.
Proverbs 19:20 (NLT) “Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life.”

In the true spirit of our school’s theme, “Bersama-sama,” we are thrilled to highlight our upcoming Child Safety Week, March 16 – 19.
