Goodbye for Now

Dalat International School has played a meaningful role in my family since the 1970’s.

Leaving A Legacy

Mr. Steinkamp did more than “stand at the helm.” He is affectionately known as Uncle Karl because of his deep investment in individual student lives.

Year of Growth

We are grateful that, over this year, SOPs have eased enough that we were able to spend a majority of the year in face-to-face learning despite starting the year online.

Finishing Well

Whenever we approach the end of something, whether it’s a job or a school year or a project, it’s easy to lose motivation.

This last week I had a few spidey moments that were the direct result of the job I am privileged to hold. At the ES concert on Wednesday, I had a number of “spine tingling” moments...

For those that follow the superhero Spiderman, you will know that one of his super powers is something called “spidey sense.” This is a feeling he gets right before something bad is going to happen or if one of the villains is nearby.

Mortal humans actually have something similar when we are afraid or something scares us which is often referred to as a “spine tingling” moment. A scary movie can be described as spine tingling. What is interesting is that we can also have that same spine tingling sensation from something personally moving or emotional. An amazing movie, a particular song, a favorite team winning in a dramatic way, can all cause the electrical feeling that goes up and down the spine.

This last week I had a few spidey moments that were the direct result of the job I am privileged to hold. At the ES concert on Wednesday, I had a number of “spine tingling” moments as I watched our students do amazing body percussion, rhythm, and musical numbers. They were so impressive! Then yesterday the exact thing happened at the middle school concert as I listened to our MS students perform band numbers in such a way that it made me proud to be part of Dalat and gave me more of those “spine tingling” moments. I am quite confident it will happen again tonight at the HS concerts.

The Dalat staff and myself are not superheroes like Spiderman, but we get the opportunity to enjoy “spidey sense” experiences as we work with your dedicated, hard-working, and talented students
