Recent studies show that grateful people are happier, more resilient, and less depressed. They also have higher self-esteem and better relationships.

How Far Have We Come?

The journey of 5 years might feel like a long one, but we have come a long way, we are headed in the right direction, and we are confident that we will reach our destination.

Darkest Before the Dawn

I am proud of the Dalat community for so many reasons. The adversity has definitely shown us the quality of our students, teachers, and the community as a whole.

Learning to Fail

I think we all understand that failure is an important part of our journey…I would encourage you to take the time to read some of the books and articles listed below.

The fact of the matter is not a day goes by where I do not see teachers going the extra mile for their students.

This week the PTO has been amazing in showing appreciation to the teachers at Dalat as part of Teacher Appreciation Week. Each day they have done something for the teachers to let them know that Dalat parents appreciate all that they do.

I thought I might simply list some of the things I appreciate about the teachers and staff at Dalat. The fact of the matter is not a day goes by where I do not see teachers going the extra mile for their students:

  • Staff who are willing to give up their vacation time to coach a team at a tournament or chaperone an Impact trip to another country.
  • Teachers giving up their Saturdays and time off to give mock exams in preparation for the upcoming AP tests.
  • Teachers investing in the lives of our students through mentoring during their lunch break.
  • All the clubs, teams, and activities that only take place because our teachers and staff are willing to give of their time and energy to make them happen.
  • Dorm staff and teachers supervising open campus on Friday nights.
  • All the grading and lesson preparation that takes place on Saturdays and Sundays so that classes for the students are engaging and challenging each school day.
  • All the activities that the dorm parents plan for holidays and long weekends for our residence life students.

This list could go on for pages if I included everything our staff do for our students. These are just some examples of them living out the theme “It’s Still Not About Me.” They live it out every day and model it for our students. It is from a heart to serve and impact the lives of students that our teachers exemplify the theme.

I want to thank the PTO for all that they have done this week. It has been an encouragement to the staff in many different ways and demonstrates that Dalat is indeed a special place.

Have a great day and May the 4th (Star Wars Day) be with you!
