Back to School
Pencils? Binder? Calculator? Keys to the Ferrari? No, wait...to help relieve a little of that first-day back at school anxiety here are a few friendly reminders from each of our school divisions.
Elementary School Notes
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! We are so excited that we can start off the school year face to face and with minimal restrictions. The teachers, TAs, staff, and faculty have been busy preparing for school to begin next Wednesday. I trust that you have had a relaxing and enjoyable Summer holiday, and we look forward to getting to know you better.
As your family prepares for school again, please note the following information:
- School Supplies
Students need to bring:
- A spare uniform and wear sports shoes/ sandals with straps
- Refillable water bottle
- Extra masks
- A small bottle of hand sanitizer
- An umbrella
- Uniforms and Expectations
Please make sure your child’s uniforms still fit properly. This includes PE Uniforms. If new uniforms need to be purchased, please schedule an appointment here.
- Campus Access
The campus will open at 8 am and close by 5 pm. Students may enter their classrooms at 8:15. Students who arrive later than 8:20 will be marked tardy. Students are dismissed by 3:10 and parents are expected to pick up their children on time. We are thankful that our playgrounds are open after school.
However, students must be supervised (i.e. in line of vision) by an adult or parent while playing. They may not play on the playground until you arrive. Older siblings are not allowed to supervise younger children. The library is open after school, however, elementary students are not allowed to be in the library without adult/parent supervision.
- Communication
Please pay close attention to the emails from your child’s teacher. They will be communicating specific information for the first day/week of school. Next week, look out for our Kid Interest Club (KICs) sign-ups for children in Grades 1-4. Your child’s homeroom teacher and next week’s Dalat News will provide more information and a sign-up form.
- Drop Off & Pick Up
- Preschool parents are required to physically drop off and pick up their children at their classrooms. Preschool parents may park on the lower campus.
- Parents of children in Kindergarten to Grade 2 are encouraged to use the lower campus drop-off/pick-up area.
- Parents of Grade 3-4 students are encouraged to use the upper field drop/off pick-up area.
- Preschool parents and children may enjoy our playgrounds and outside spaces from 12 until 1 pm.
- Absences
If your child is unable (due to illness, etc.) to come to school, please email attendance@dalat.org. Your child’s attendance will be marked as a parent excused absence.
- Safety and Sanitization
- Dalat will continue to uphold a high standard of cleanliness by regularly sanitizing our classrooms and learning spaces.
- Teachers and TAs are well equipped with cleaning materials to sanitize as needed.
- Students will be instructed to sanitize and wash their hands at key times during the day.
- All adults and students are still required to wear masks indoors.
- Parents are asked to move from classrooms doors and windows when the morning bell rings for school to start, allowing students to better focus on the beginning of the school day.
